Inquiry officer for Doodhipora incident appointed

Srinagar, September 22 – Government has appointed District and Session Judge Sayed Tariq Naqashbandi as inquiry officer to inquire into the causes and circumstances that led to the event of firing at Doodhipora, Handwara on February 22, 2006 resulting in the death of four persons.
The inquiry officer besides identifying the persons, if any, whose negligence caused the incident would fix the responsibility on the persons for using excessive force which resulted in the death of four persons and recommend whatever action is deemed necessary against the persons found negligent or guilty and also suggest remedial measures , if any, to avoid reoccurrence of such incidents in future.
The inquiry officer has been asked to submit his report within a period of two months.
