| LC clears pending business, adjourned sine die | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, April 9: After a brief daylong session to clear the pending business, the Legislative Council was adjourned sine die here this afternoon. Deputy Chairman. S. Arvinder Singh adjourned the Legislative Council sine die after a day-long Session, here today. The Session was called today to dispose off pending business. During a day-long Session of Legislative Council held here today, the Minister for Finance, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather moved for consideration “A Bill further to amend the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir (L.A. Bill No. 5 of 2009)”. The Bill was seconded by Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar. The Bill after consideration by the Upper House was returned to the Legislative Assembly. Earlier, Secretary, Legislative Council, Mr. G. R. Mehboobi read out the 4 Bills assented by the Governor. The Bills are “The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2009”, “The Jammu and Kashmir State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2009”, “The Jammu and Kashmir Societies Registration (Amendment and Validation) Bill, 2009” and “The Civil Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2009”. Meanwhile rich tributes were paid to former Minister and Member of the House Mr. Ghulam Nabi Kockak, who passed away recently at Srinagar. Moving the obituary reference, the Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, S. Arvinder Singh recalled the contribution of late Kochak in the political sphere of the State. The House also observed a two-minute silence in memory of the late political leader.
