| CU Jammu, Garuda Aerospace partner on Drone Technology | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 25: The Central University of Jammu (CUJ) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Garuda Aerospace Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Drone Technology. The MoU signing ceremony, organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication, took place at the ISRO Building, CU Jammu, under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain.
The event witnessed the presence of Registrar Prof. Yashwant Singh, Chief Operating Officer of Garuda Aerospace Dr. Vijay Kumar, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, along with faculty members, staff, and students.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Yashwant Singh highlighted the advanced infrastructure and facilities available at CU Jammu and emphasized the importance of such collaborations in driving societal and national development aligned with Industry 5.0 standards.
Dr. Vijay Kumar expressed enthusiasm for establishing the CoE at CU Jammu, with a vision to provide training and internships for students, develop a UAV lab, and enhance research and development capabilities in drone technology. He outlined the CoE's mission to create solutions for agriculture, defense, and space sectors.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Sunil Datt Sharma, Associate Professor, and Dr. Haneet Kour, Research Associate at the Satish Dhawan Centre of Space Sciences (SDCSS). The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, who extended gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation in this milestone event.
