Congress to give 33% reservation to women in Parliament: Chauhan

Jammu, Apr 10- Senior Congress leader and incharge of J&J affairs Prithvi Raj Chauhan on Friday assured women workers of the congress party in Jammu that if Congress party is voted back to power it would reserve 33 percent seats for the women in the Parliament.
Addressing a day long convention of the women party workers here in Jammu senior congress leader made an attempt to woo women supporters of the party and assured them that the party is vigorously pursuing the issue of 33 percent reservation for women candidates in the Parliament. Chauhan made this promise in the presence of PCC Chief Saif Ud Din Soz. Urg
Urging party workers to come out in large numbers to vote and support candidature of the party candidates from two seats in Jammu region, Chauhan said the women constitute a major vote bank and cannot be taken for granted by any political party.
Prof Saif ud Din Soz who also addressed the convention highlighted the achievements of the UPA government in the last five years while seeking mandate in favour of the party candidates from Jammu and Udhamur Parliamentary seat.
The day long convention was also attended by president of the state women wing Indu Pawar and other senior leaders and party ministers. Newly appointed MLA Amrit Malhotra and Health Minister Shyam Lal Sharma were also present on the occasion and sought votes for the party nominees.
Addressing a separate rally in Jammu Madan Lal Sharma exposed leaders of the BJP for failing to raise public centric issues of importance. Cautioning people to exercise extra caution at the time of using their right to franchise, Sharma said that the BJP leaders first misled the people across the country by raising the issue of construction of Ram Mandir and now again they are running a vicious campaign to divide the voters on communal lines.
