| 15-day Exhibition of 100 folk-paintings begins at Kala Kendera | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10- An Exhibition of more than 100 Folk-Paintings of Jammu region created during four day long Women Folk-Artists camp was inaugurated here at Master Sansar Chand Gallery, Kala Kendera today by eminent educationist and Principal Government Women College Gandhi Nagar Prof. Nalini Kohli. The event jointly organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Veraj Kala Kendera, Jammu will remain open for fifteen days. Speaking at the inaugural function ,Prof. Nalini Kohli said that Jammu has remained a centre of art activities since centuries and this is a matter of pride for us that the women folk of the region have been working vigorously to carry forward this tradition for generation next. She said the folk-painting exhibited reflects our life and culture which is very much distinct and diverse in many ways. She also appreciated both the organization for holding a camp of rural women of Jammu region here and with the help this camp a rich content is been created which is amazing and interesting. Raj Bharti of Veeraj Kala Kendera said that main objective of holding four day Women Artists Camp followed by a fifteen day long Folk-Paintings Exhibition is to keep the traditional art alive and relevant. She also impressed upon the civil society of Jammu to visit here to see the bold and vibrant rural folk-lore of the region here at Kala Kendera. O P Sharma, Special Officer for Cultural Activities and Mohi-ud-Din Exhibition Officer also spoke about the exhibition. Among other dignitaries, Prof. Vena Gupta, Dean, Shashi Pathania HOD , Dogri Department of Jammu University, eminent painters Prof. T S Batra,N D Jamwal, Bhishamber Mehta, Kamlesh Gandhi and Gokal Dembi were also present. The work of Madhu Sharma, Raj Laxmi, Preeto Devi, Kamli Devi, Rama, Swarna Devi, Sharda Sharma, Manish , Partima Singh, Shashi Bala, Durgi devi , Payari Devi, Naresh Kamari , Shashi Paradha, Sita Devi is on display at the exhibition which shall remain opened till April 25.
