76th Republic Day celebrations held at SKUAST-Jammu

JAMMU, Jan 27: The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great pride and patriotism at SKUAST Jammu. Prof. B. N. Tripathi, the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, unfurled the National Flag, symbolizing unity and the country's commitment to democratic values. The day marked India's transition from a British dominion to a sovereign republic and the adoption of the Indian Constitution, a milestone in India's history.
Prof. Tripathi, in his address, reflected on the sacrifices of freedom fighters and emphasized the Constitution as the guiding force of India's governance. He highlighted the theme for Republic Day 2025, "Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas" ("Golden India: Heritage and Progress"), which encapsulates India's blend of cultural preservation and progress.
He underscored India's role as the world's largest democracy and lauded the achievements of Indian agriculture, noting the country's shift to self-sufficiency and global recognition in the field. Prof. Tripathi commended the collective efforts of the faculty and staff in elevating SKUAST Jammu to a leading institution. He outlined the university's ongoing projects, including a ?150 crore infrastructure development plan and the successful execution of the National Agriculture Summit, as well as projects worth ?232 crores funded by various agencies.
Prof. Tripathi highlighted SKUAST-Jammu's commitment to growth, including the implementation of NEP 2020, the launch of the NCC Air Wing, and the operation of Radio Kisan Jammu. He emphasized the university's role in education, research, community outreach, and supporting the farming community.
The Republic Day celebrations began with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, followed by the national anthem and a cultural program. Prof. Hema Tripathi, Madam Vice-Chancellor, university officers, faculty, non-teaching staff, and students attended the event, marking another successful year of commitment to the nation's progress and heritage.
