Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10- A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers party met the visiting team of the Election Commission of India comprising Navin B Chawla the Election Commissioner of India and R. Balakrishanan the Deputy Election Commissioner here today.
The Panthers Party delegation comprising its State President Balwant Singh Mankotia MLA, Sayed Rafiq Shah MLC and Hari Chand Jalmeria Advocate General Secretaries pointed out to the visiting EC team that the fresh voter lists have not been made available to the political parties in the state and alleged that the Election authorities have unilaterally and discriminatingly removed names of thousand of voters in Jammu Province thereby showing a decease in the total number of voters as compared to the number of voters in the past elections. On the contrary the Election Commission has shown a great upsurge in the number of voters in the Kashmir Valley. The Election Commission was also apprised by the Panthers delegation that the migrants from district Doda and from other upper parts of Udhampur and Doda Districts camping in Talwara and Jammu have not been provided any facility for exercising their votes near the station of their camps whereas the Election Commission has provided such facility to the migrants voters camping in Jammu-Delhi and elsewhere. It was also brought to the notice of the EC that security cover has been withdrawn from most of the panthers party candidates and leaders even the newly elected MLC Syed Rafiq Shah has not been provided the required security as provided to even small functionary of ruling NC-Congress alliance parties.
The Panthers leaders pointed out that the private channels propagating the election publicity of the parties should be brought under proper control and check of the election commission. The Panthers leaders also pointed out the misuse of official machinery by the ruling alliance of NC-Congress in Jammu and Kashmir and they have made recruitment in police and some others departments during the period of election code of conduct.
