| Congress delegation meets visiting EC team | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 10- A delegation of senior Congress leaders had a meeting with the Election Commission of India here today and put forward their view point about the arrangements for the ongoing election campaign in the state. The Congress delegation comprising S. Gurmukh Singh-ex-Minister, Yash Paul Khajuria-ex-Minister (Vice Presidents PCC) and Ravinder Sharma-MLC, Spokesperson and General Secretary PCC expressed its satisfaction about the arrangements and preparedness of the entire election machinery for free, fair and smooth conduct of the election. However, they urged the Commission that the process of issuing photo I-cards to all eligible voters must be completed on war footing. The eligible voters who have not been issued I-cards should not face any difficulty in casting their votes; however identity of voter must be established. The delegation further emphasized that no party should be allowed to make use of religious places or religion for purpose of elections. This will help in further cementing the peaceful atmosphere. The delegation assured full co-operation to the Commission for peaceful conduct of the entire electoral exercise in order to strengthen democracy in the state.
