Congress observed martyrdom day Mahatma Gandhi at PCC HQ

JAMMU, Jan 30: Congress observed the martyrdom day of father of nation Mahatma Gandhi today in a simple function at PCC HQ Shahidi Chowk Jammu.
President JKPCC Shri Tariq Hameed Karra presided over the function and attend by Working Presidents Shri Tara Chand & Shri Raman Bhalla. Senior leaders Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Naresh Gupta, Rajnish Sharma Indu Pawar, Th. Balbir Singh Shri Hari Singh Chib, and DCC President Jammu Urban Th. Manmohan Singh.
Addressing the gathering Shri Tariq Hameed Karra paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and remembered the great contribution of father of nation who led the freedom movement of the country and achieved it through non violence means. His philosophy of non violence, peace and brotherhood is becoming more relevant with every passing day as the entire World looks towards Mahatma Gandhi for guidance. He cautioned the people against the communal and divisive forces who are bent upon to divide the society for their vested interest which goes against basic principle and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi who preached patience and religious tolerance which is fundamental to the security and integrity of the nation.
PCC Chief Cautioned the people and the party workers about the attempt to torpedo the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi by certain forces who glorify his killer. He said that such a path is a threat to the secular fabric of this nation, as secularism is the basic strength of our pluralistic society. He said that Mahatma Gandhi had seen a ray of hope in Kashmir because it maintained religious harmony when entire nation was in the grip of communal frenzy at the time of partition and asked party men to take a pledge to spread and follow his philosophy and principles in day to day life.
Other prominent leaders who attended the function include S/Shri Bhushan Dogra, Smt. Zahida Khan, T.S. Tony, Shashi Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Shiv Kumar Sharma , Gurdarshan Singh, Sanjeev Sharma Satish Sharma, Sahil Farooq, Ajay Lakhotra, Varinder Manhas, Michel Wazir, Ricky Dalotra, Kewal Jogi, Davinder Singh Chib and others.
