Kavinder slams Omar Abdullah over SPOs' honorarium misinformation
1/30/2025 10:53:28 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 30: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta has strongly criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for spreading incorrect information regarding the honorarium of Special Police Officers (SPOs). He stated that such careless actions reflect a lack of governance and accountability, urging Omar Abdullah to take responsibility for the blunder.
In a press statement issued here today, the senior BJP leader pointed out that an official social media handle of the National Conference (NC) had falsely claimed an increase in SPOs' honorarium. However, the post was soon deleted, and a clarification was issued stating that the information was unverified. He termed this as a serious case of mismanagement, emphasizing that such misleading statements cause confusion among the masses, especially those directly affected, like the SPOs.
"The entire sequence of events raises serious concerns about the competency of the NC-led administration. Either they are unsure about their own decisions, or they are deliberately testing public reaction by floating unverified claims. This kind of governance is highly unprofessional, particularly when it concerns the welfare of our security personnel," he stated.
Kavinder further criticized the NC leadership for attempting to shift blame onto a social media handler, claiming that removing the individual from their position was merely an attempt to escape responsibility. He said such an approach reflects a deeper issue of lack of accountability within the party.
The former Deputy Chief Minister demanded that Omar Abdullah issue a public apology to the SPOs and the people of Jammu & Kashmir for the confusion caused by the misleading announcement. He asked the Chief Minister to focus on real issues affecting the region rather than engaging in reckless behavior that undermines public trust.
