Are elections for gains or losses ??

Elections come and go but leave behind its impressions of profit to some and misery to all the commoners. As the campaigning initiated for the Lok Sabha polls in the state the shortage of public transport has become routine problems to be faced besides employment to rural masses, golden period for advertisers, transporters and of course to the winning politicians appear the characteristics of these elections.
The shortage of commercial transport has made it difficult for the common man to travel in and around the regions. “I visit Ramban and Banihal almost twice a day , always in a matadors but this month there is an acute shortage of vehicles said, Mohd Ayoub Wani, a head clerk in education department, Ramban. Though the shortage has definitely created problems for people, transport operators are happy to attach their vehicles for election purposes. “In addition to fuel and three meals a day, we get Rs 924 from the candidate who hires vehicles said Inderjeet Sharma, President special tourist taxi association at TRC, Jammu.
Meanwhile elections not only bring miseries but also provide opportunities for harvest. Other then politicians various sections of society are benefited as they get opportunity of labour with which they earn livelihood for a shorter period.
Mohan Lal, a machine operator at True sign Advertisers, is working overtime, as his work like many of his counterparts has increased since the date of the Lok Sabha elections were announced. There is so much work from various regions of the state that company has to hire more people to meet targets. Expressing happiness over the work the elections have brought Rajesh Gupta owner of True Signs Advertisers a good fortune, says “we have hired two more persons to up hoardings as we charge a modest Rs12-13 per sq feet for banners”.
Even drivers have found overtime employment as the Lok sabha elections are nearer. Earlier there was very less work, but now I have to remain mostly outside my home town for election related duties says Sonu a driver who has found more work than usual.
Even after 14 Lok sabha elections government as well as common people are unable to fight the inconvenience occurred during election period and also to diversify the opportunities of employment in brooder prospects.
