Swift action by Ramban police saved three precious lives in vehicle accident

RAMBAN, Feb 1: In a tragic incident that occurred at about 0010 hrs on Friday 01/2/25, one person lost his life and three others were injured in a road accident on the Jammu-Srinagar highway. The accident took place at Battery Chashma area and vehicle fell approximately 1000-1500 feet below the road, when the driver of a vehicle lost control and rolled down the hill.
According to sources, the vehicle was traveling from Jammu to Srinagar with a licensed alcohol load, and the driver was allegedly driving rashly and negligently. The incident occurred at around 0010 hrs, and a police team from Ramban Police Station, including the SHO, Civil QRT, and UTDRF, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
After a rigorous rescue operation under the supervision of SSP Ramban Sh. Kulbir Singh JKPS, three persons were rescued alive due to the timely and prompt action taken by Ramban police and others. The rescued individuals are Junaid Ahmed, son of Gulam Nabi, and Zakir Hussain, son of Akbar Ali, both residents of Satra, Tehsil Hiranager, District Kathua. third injured individual, Arfaqat Ali, son of Kalu, also a resident of Satra, Tehsil Hiranager, District Kathua, was also rescued . However, one person, Yasir Ali, son of Mohd Azhar, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The injured were shifted to District Hospital Ramban, where they are receiving medical attention. An investigation into the incident has been launched, and a case under sections 281/125(a)/106 BNS has been registered at Ramban Police Station, bearing FIR No. 10/2025.
The Ramban Police are also reminding drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
