BJP's 10 years' misrule inflicted huge sufferings on people of J&K: Sadhotra

UDHAMPUR, Feb 1: Additional General Secretary of National Conference and Former Minister Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today asserted that the Omar Abdullah Government is committed to steer Jammu and Kashmir out of the misrule and mis-governance inflicted by the BJP-led administration over the past decade.
Addressing a day long Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Convention of the Udhampur Block organized by Sunil Verma, District President Udhampur, Om Parkash Bhagat Block President Udhampur and District President Youth National Conference Akash Verma, Mr Sadhotra emphasized that the people of J&K have given a massive mandate to the National Conference, reaffirming their trust in the party's vision for peace, progress, and prosperity.
Former Minister said the BJP's decade-long rule in J&K, directly and indirectly, has been marked by instability, economic downturn, unemployment, and a disregard for the aspirations of the people. This has to be reversed by redoubling efforts for holistic development, economic empowerment of all segments of society, job creation and fast track recruitment process and generating avenues for growth in every sector. He said that the National Conference has always worked for the progress of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and will now work towards undoing the damage caused by the policies of the past ten years. Mr Sadhotra highlighted that Jenab Omar Abdullah, with his vast experience as a Chief Minister, Union Minister and Member of Parliament, is fully committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He said that during Omar Abdullah's tenure as Chief Minister, several landmark initiatives were introduced to enhance governance, create employment opportunities, and improve infrastructure. His leadership is instrumental in restoring public trust and setting J&K on the path of development, he added.
The Additional General Secretary National Conference said that under the towering patronization of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, J&K will once again witness progress and prosperity. He lauded Dr. Abdullah's statesmanship and dedication to the people of J&K, emphasizing that his vision has always been about inclusive growth, communal harmony and safeguarding the unique identity of the region. Mr Ajay Sadhotra also reiterated that the National Conference has a rich track record of strengthening the public sector and implementing welfare-oriented policies. The party has always prioritized development, social justice, and equitable distribution of resources. Successive National Conference governments have introduced several historic initiatives for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, by creating thousands of jobs in the public and private sectors, promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening small-scale industries during different spells of government. He also referred to expansion of hydroelectric power projects, ensuring electricity supply to remote areas, and modernizing power infrastructure, establishing new universities, colleges, and schools, strengthening of primary healthcare centers, setting up new hospitals, and introducing schemes for affordable medical treatment besides infrastructural and agricultural and horticultural growth, he added.
Mr Sadhotra asked the party workers to take programmes of the NC to every door step and play a vital role in filling the communal gap so that we can have a strong Jammu and Kashmir. Peace and tranquility are the only basic needs for development and employment.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Secretary Mohd Ayub Malik said that the National Conference remains committed to safeguarding the interests of the people of J&K and ensuring that the region reclaims its rightful place as a hub of development, peace, and economic growth.
Addressing the Convention, Satwant Dogra, Provincial President Women Wing Jammu emphasized the need of extending outreach of the women workers of the party to every door step to create sense of confidence among common people and know their miseries so that we could give them solace of relief as Omar Abdullah government is committed to lessen the miseries of common people.
