| 10 Injured in Clashes in J&K | | | Early Times Report

At least ten persons, including two policemen, were injured as police fired teargas shells and used batons to disperse stone-pelting separatists in Srinagar and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir today, official sources said.
Shouting "anti-election" slogans, groups of youth took to streets shortly after Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar and indulged in stone-pelting on police and paramilitary forces, the sources said.
The sources said police immediately swung into action and resorted to firing tear gas and baton charge to restore law and order.
The clashes were continuing at Kawdara, Nowhatta, Rajouri Kadal and adjoining localities in the close vicinity of Jamia Masjid when reports were last received, the sources said adding two policemen and five protesters were injured.
Three more persons were injured when police used batons and fired tear gas to disperse a group of youth at Baramulla district town, 55 kms from here, the sources said.
The sources said the trouble started when police stopped the people from taking an anti-election rally in the North Kashmir town after Friday prayers.
Reinforcements have been rushed to the area to restore order, the sources said.
