| Lok Sabha Elections 2009 | | Karan Singh appeal voters to vote for Congress candidate | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 11: Dr Karan Singh, a senior Congress leader has appealed to the voters of the Jammu region to support Congress candidate namely Madan Lal Shrama and Ch. Lal Singh seeking election for the Lok Sabha from Jammu Poonch and Udhampur Kathua constituency as party candidate respectively. Singh in a statement issued to the press here he said, that due to wife’s illness, he is not in a position to take part in the election campaign and as such he has appealed to the voters of these constitutions that for broader national interest Congress party should emerge stronger than before. He said that it is my firm conviction that it is only Congress, which is committed to progressive, secular and democratic policies, that a stable coalition can be formed after the general elections. Other alternatives are recipes for instability which the nation can least afford at this critical juncture in history and added Congress has always stood for national solidarity and has opposed the forces of casteism, communalism and fundamentalism. With India’s rise in world importance, and surrounded as we are by nations which are in the throes of internal conflicts, a strong, stable and progressive government in India is absolutely essential for the future welfare of our country. I sincerely hope that voters in these two constituencies will whole heartedly support the Congress candidates supported by National Conference.
