| J&K Police bags Ishmeet memorial football trophy | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, April 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police clinched the Ishmeet memorial football trophy beating Jammu Sports Club by two goals to nil in the final played at Boys Higher Secondary School Simbal Camp, near here today.
Holding the tough side of J&K Police to a goalless draw in the first half, Jammu Sports Club could not hold their nerves after the breather and conceded two goals.
Asif Majid and Gulzar Ahmed scored a field goal each in the 55th and 66th minute of the match.
In all, 16 teams, representing different clubs and institutions took part in this knock-out tournament organised by locals of Simbal Camp.
In the final and prize distribution function, family members of Ishmeet Singh, winner of the `Voice of India’ contest were the special guest. The family of Ishmeet had specially come from Amritsar to give away the trophy.
The tournament was organized by football lovers and fans of a budding singer, Ishmeet, who died of an accident.
