| Notification issued for Srinagar LS seat, Sonawar, Hazratbal Assembly bye-polls | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr11- The poll process for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency and bye-polls for Hazratbal and Sonawar Assembly constituencies was set into motion with the issuance of notifications today. The last date for filing of nominations for the Srinagar Parliamentary seat as well as Hazratbal and Sonawar Assembly constituencies has been fixed as April 18 while scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on April 20. April 22 has been fixed as the last date for withdrawal of candidatures while as polling will be held on May 7. Srinagar Lok Sabha seat has a total electorate of 11, 04, 251, which also includes 155 service electors. Out of the total registered voters, 5, 74,443 are male and 5, 28,008 female who will exercise their franchise in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. As many as 790 polling stations will be set up to facilitate the voters on the polling day. As many as 15 Assembly segments are going to polls in the Parliamentary constituency which include Hazratbal, Zadibal, Idgah, Khanyar, Habbakadal, Amirakadal, Sonawar and Batmaloo in Srinagar district, Ganderbal and Kangan in Ganderbal district and Chadoora, Budgam, Beerwah, Khansahib and Charar-e-Sharief in Budgam district. In Hazratbal Assembly constituency, for which bye-poll will be held on May 7, there is a total electorate of 86,668 which includes 45,498 male and 41,170 female voters. As many as 119 polling stations will be established in the constituency. Likewise, in Sonawar Assembly constituency, for which bye-poll will be held on May 7, a total of 69,436 electors will exercise their franchise, out of which 36,265 are male and 33,171 are female voters. As many as 89 polling stations will be set up in the constituency to facilitate the voters.
