| Congress believes in Unity: Soz | | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 11 Congress believes in uniting the people of different hues and not dividing them on the basis of religion , caste etc stated Prof. Saifuddin Soz, President J&K PCC and Union Minister for Water Resources Govt. of India during a mammoth public meeting arranged by ST Department JKPCC and National Conference participants of Gujjar Community in Jammu on today. He lauded the community and describe them as messenger of peace and secularism, which is main edifice on which democracy and development of India depends. The BJP had been carrying the hidden agenda of divisive forces and no stone was left unturned to pollute the atmosphere during the agitation. But large number of people did not heed to nepherious designs of BJP and maintained the communal harmony. BJP candidate who claimed to be non-party man came in his true color as a candidate of BJP. BJP has no programme other than this. Whereas vikas is the main programme of our party and welfare of all the people irrespective of religion, caste creed and regions of the state, is our main concern. Even his ministry has alone contributed about 1200 crores of rupees on different developments schemes in state and Rs. 26 crore spent on the protection walls and beautification of tawi river. Special attention is given to the welfare of weaker sections of the society, especially Schedule Tribes Gujjars etc throughout the state. Earlier, Tara Chand-Deputy Chief Minister J&K while addressing the gathering stressed that cast and religious politics will lead us no where. We must bridge the gap between rich and poor. The Congress party can only fulfill those dreams of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and other leaders. He appealed to the Gujjar Samaj for whole heartedly support and vote for the Congress candidate Sh. Madan Lal Sharma and Ch. Lal Singh. This will strengthen the hands of Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh. We are sure to have UPA government headed by Dr. Manmohan Singh in the centre. Prominent among others who participated in the function included S/Shri Sham Lal Sharma-Minister for Health, S. Gurmukh Singh-Vice President PCC, Shah Mohammad Choudhary-General Secretary PCC, Ch. Lal Mohd. Sabir-ex-MLC, Ch. Abdul Hamid, Ch. Haroon Rashid, Akhtar Hussian and Haji Mohd. Hussian.
