| Election Observers convene meeting with political parties | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 11- Election Observers Raj Pratap Singh and Uma Mukerjee today convened a meeting with candidates of various political parties to discuss election related issues.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mandeep K. Bhandari, who is also District Election Officer, was also present.
Interacting with the candidates, the Observers apprised about the election preparedness at all the polling stations and deputing Micro Observers at sensitive and hyper sensitive polling booths. They informed about the security arrangements for fair and transparent conduct of polls.
Various allied issues were discussed and suggestions sought for peaceful polls. The candidates gave certain valuable suggestions to which the Observers ensured consideration on priority.
On the issue of Electors Photo Identity Cards, DC apprised that for convenience of voters several other documents including ration card, PAN card, driving licenses, students I-card, passport, property papers, Permanent Resident Certificates, etc would also be considered as Identity cards on the day of poll. Braille EVM’s have been installed for the blind.
He sought cooperation from the political parties for smooth and transparent conduct of polls.
