| SSP Kanth’s demise widely mourned | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr11- The death of Senior Superintendent of Police Showkat Hussain Kanth, who passed away yesterday after a brief illness, has been widely mourned. The Minister for PHE Taj Mohi -ud-Din has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Showkat Hussain Kanth. In a condolence message, the Minister described the late officer as most dedicated who performed his duties with head and heart. Taj expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai in a condolence message has expressed shock and grief over the demise of Kanth and described him as an honest and upright officer who performed his duties with dedication and in a professional manner. He also conveyed his heart-felt sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. Rich tributes were paid in a condolence meeting at PHQ here today to Showkat Hussain Kanth, an IPS Officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, who died in harness yesterday. The DGP Kuldeep Khoda, who presided, paid rich tributes to Kanth. A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the late officer. Lauding the services of senior police officer for over two-and-a-half decade service career, Khoda said late Kanth made a mark for himself and J&K Police by serving the organization with honesty and perseverance which would be remembered for a long time. Describing the death of Kanth as a loss to the department, Khoda said he was an able administrator who discharged his duties with utmost professionalism and promptness. Several speakers also expressed their heart-felt sympathies with the bereaved family. The meeting was attended by IGPs, K. Rajendra, P. L. Gupta, Ram Lubaya, S. M. Sahai, Sheikh Owais, Ashok Gupta, Zahoor Hussain Chisti and Farooq Ahmed, DIGs, Mohammad Suliman Salaria, Kamal Saini, P. R. Manhas and. Manju Rashid, AIGs, Javaid Riyaz, Ali Mohammad and Sameer Rekhi, besides senior Police Officers and staff members of the PHQ. Earlier, similar condolence meeting was held at CID Headquarters, where Kanth was presently posted. The meeting was chaired by Director General (CID) Dr. Ashok Bhan. Several speakers highlighted the dedication and professional policing rendered by the officer in the organization. They described him as an honest officer and expert of quick disposal.
