JAMMU, Feb 11: Department of Computer Applications in collaboration with Cyber Jagrookta Cell of GDC Vijaypur conducted successful cyber awareness workshop on the Safer Internet Day.The Department of Computer Applications at Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur organized a comprehensive cyber awareness program aimed at educating students, faculty, and staff about online safety and security. The program focused on the importance of cyber security in today's digital age. Prof. Manisha Rani (Lecturer Computer Sciences Department) highlighted the common cyber threats, such as phishing, ransomware, and social engineering, and provided valuable tips on how to protect oneself from these threats. Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma, Principal of the college emphasized the need for cyber awareness, stating, "In today's digital world, it is essential that we educate ourselves about online safety and security. This program is a step towards creating a cyber-aware community." She further appreciated the efforts of the Computer Sciences Department in organizing such an important workshop which is very much relevant in present world of technology where internet plays a very important role in everyone's life.
The event was organized with full support of senior faculty members of the college namely Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof. Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (HOD Sociology) and Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education). The event was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD EVS), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English), Prof. Meetu Sharma (HOD Geography) and Prof. Manisha Rani (Lecturer Computer Sciences).
