| Workshop on peace process opened | | |

The two-day workshop, for the research scholars of Jammu University (JU) on the topic “Peace Process in J&K”, was inaugurated by Dr. S S Beloria, Former Chief Secretary and Advisor to Chief Minister, at JU here today. This workshop is organized by JU in collaboration with Delhi Policy Group (Supported by European Union). In his inaugural address, Dr. Beloria said that the fencing of Indo-Pak border has led to sharp decline in militancy related incidents in Kashmir and added that the situation shown the signs of improvement. He further stated that India has always been propagating peace and will always strive hard in ensuring peace in the subcontinent. He also commented on the joint Indo-Pak mechanisms to fight terrorism in the recently held Havana Summit. BPS Sehgal, Director Law School and Acting Vice-Chancelor of the JU, while speaking on the occasion complimented the scholars for their support in conducting of this workshop. He also spelt briefly over the UN resolutions on peace and shared his personal experiences of one-year stay at Afghanistan where he pursued his research work. President JURSEA, Sandeep Singh Sandy presented the vote of thanks. The workshop was held in two sessions. Prof. Ashok Aima chaired the first session in which the Working Group discussed Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) with Pakistan while; Prof. Nirmal Singh chaired the second session and discussed Infrastructure and Economic Development.
