Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 12: In a spectacular display of cricket, Jammu University secured their second victory in the North Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament 2024-25, defeating Technical University Uttarakhand by a massive margin. Batting first, Jammu University posted a challenging total of 192/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to standout performances from their top order.
Govind was the top scorer for Jammu University, accumulating an impressive 72 runs, while Ishan Bali contributed with a solid 62 runs. Their efforts guided the team to a formidable score, which proved to be more than enough against a struggling Uttarakhand bowling attack. Aditya and Deepak Joshi were the pick of the bowlers for Uttarakhand, both claiming two wickets each, but their efforts were not enough to stop the strong batting lineup from Jammu University.
In response, Uttarakhand's chase faltered badly as they were bowled out for just 77 runs in 16.3 overs. The Jammu University bowlers dominated, with Govind shining once again. He was sensational with the ball, claiming three wickets for just 18 runs in his four overs. Captain Vikshay Vashist also played a crucial role, taking two wickets for 16 runs from his four overs. The duo's disciplined bowling effort dismantled the Uttarakhand batting lineup.
The top performers from Uttarakhand were Yash Parthak, who scored 32 runs before being dismissed by captain Vikshay Vashist, and Vickey Kumar, who managed to score 19 runs. However, the rest of the Uttarakhand side struggled against the tight bowling attack of Jammu University.
After the match, Jammu University's captain, Vikshay Vashist, expressed confidence in his team's abilities, stating, "We have a very strong team, and we are working hard to improve with every match. We will continue to give our best in the upcoming games."
Jammu University's all-around performance has firmly established them as one of the top contenders in this year's tournament, and with their momentum building, they will be looking to extend their winning streak in the coming matches.
