2/13/2025 10:14:37 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 13: Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta described the introduction of simultaneous translation of Parliament proceedings in Dogri as a momentous gift by the BJP Govt led by PM Narendra Modi to the Dogras.
In a statement issued to media persons, the BJP stalwart leader termed it as a landmark development after the inclusion of Dogri language in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution in 2003 through the 92nd Amendment Act.
It is pertinent to mention that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has recently announced the extension of translation services in the House to six additional languages including Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Sanskrit and Urdu. Gupta said that the aforesaid initiative will bridge the gap between the national legislature and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, enabling them to fully comprehend the important discussions, debates, and legislative actions taking place in Parliament. "It will also facilitate greater inclusivity for the Dogra-speaking population, allowing them to engage with the democratic process in their native language", he added.
"With this remarkable move, the Modi government has not only fulfilled its promise to uplift regional languages but has also shown its commitment to recognizing and celebrating the cultural identity of the Dogra community. This gesture is a testament to the government's belief in empowering every section of society and providing equal opportunities for participation in the country's democratic processes," the senior BJP leader asserted while adding that this translation services would enhance the accessibility of Parliament to the people of Duggarland, fostering their deeper connection with national governance.
"As the Dogra community embraces this historic move, it is clear that the government's commitment to inclusivity and empowerment is stronger than ever, with the simultaneous translation of Parliament proceedings being an example of the government's efforts to give voice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the national discourse", he maintained while expressing gratitude to PM Narendra Modi for providing the due recognition to Dogras through his visionary leadership.
