JAMMU, Feb 14: Anand Jain, IPS, ADGP Armed J&K, visited Nud in Samba district, where he interacted with the Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) of J&K Police and personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) undergoing specialized training. He also conducted a Darbar with officers and officials of the IRP-12th Battalion.
During his visit, the ADGP held discussions with the core members of the JKP MRT, stressing meticulous planning to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team. He inspected the Mountain Rescue equipment and observed live demonstrations by MRT personnel, including rappelling at rock areas, ascending techniques, stretcher-making, slithering, and the Burma Bridge exercise.
Currently, the J&K Police MRT is conducting a 15-day specialized refresher course for 34 police personnel from different AP/IR battalions (2nd Batch) and a similar course for 40 NDRF personnel (1st Batch) at Nud, Samba. The training includes mountain climbing, search and rescue operations, and disaster response strategies, particularly in avalanche and calamity-affected areas.
Following the MRT interaction, ADGP Jain visited the Battalion Headquarters of IRP-12th Battalion, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour by a smart contingent. He inspected various branches, barracks, mess facilities, and the motor transport fleet before holding a Darbar with the unit's officers and jawans.
During the Darbar, ADGP Jain gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the personnel and issued on-the-spot instructions for resolving their genuine concerns. He emphasized the government's various welfare initiatives for J&K Police and urged supervisory officers to ensure the timely redressal of grievances. He also highlighted the importance of physical and mental well-being among the personnel and directed that hygienic food and proper outdoor activities be prioritized. Additionally, he called for an expedited implementation of courses on new criminal laws at the battalion level.
The event was attended by several senior officers, including Mumtaz Ahmad (Commandant, IRP-12th Bn), Rajinder Singh (SSP APCR Jammu), Prabeet Singh (SP, Dy.CO IRP-12th Bn), Mohd Ibrahim (SP, Dy.CO IRP-12th Bn), Dhiraj Nagyal (DySP IRP-12th Bn), Syed Sajad Hussain (PS to ADGP Armed), Abdul Hamid Dar (DySP Personnel, APHQ), and Kuldeep Handoo (DySP Sports, APHQ J&K).
