BIS J&K Branch Office set-up stall at ECO-FEST 2025 celebrating Nature & Sustainability

PATHANKOT, Feb 14: Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office, sponsored and set up a stall at the ECO-FEST 2025, a three-day event celebrating Nature & Sustainability. The event, which began today, is being held at Partap World School, Pathankot, from February 13th to 15th, 2025. Organized by the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology in collaboration with the District Administration, Pathankot, and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Government of India, the ECO-FEST aims to promote environmental awareness and sustainability practices.
The event was inaugurated by Sh. Aditya Uppal, Deputy Commissioner IAS, Pathankot, alongside Sh. Hardeep Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G), Pathankot. Other notable participants included Sh. Tilak Raj, Director and Head of BIS-JKBO, Sh Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS-JKBO and the District Education Officer for Schools in Pathankot and Amritsar. The inaugural ceremony also saw the presence of dignitaries from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, the Department of Science and Technology, Renewable Energy, and the Environment, as well as the Solid Waste Management and Horticulture departments.
During the event, BIS's stall provided valuable insights into quality and standardization awareness to the students, promoting a more eco-conscious future. The event also featured stalls showcasing innovative prototypes, models, and products related to science, technology, renewable energy, and environmental conservation.
Over 20 school students from the Pathankot region actively participated in the event, engaging in hands-on activities, learning about sustainable practices, and taking a collective pledge to uphold environmental sustainability. All dignitaries and students took the "Quality Pledge" in support of a cleaner, greener environment.
A Walkathon, organized as part of the festivities, was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Sh. Aditya Uppal. Sixty enthusiastic students participated in the walk, showcasing their commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. BIS contributed by distributing T-shirts and caps to the Walkathon participants as a token of appreciation.
The event continues tomorrow, offering more opportunities for the community to learn and engage in efforts that promote environmental stewardship.
