4/12/2009 10:29:29 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, April 12, : Both the BJP and Congress candidate contesting Udhampur Lok Sabha seat on Sunday campaigned in Reasi district and addressed series of poll meetings to garner votes.

Both the candidates sought votes from people in the area on the plank of development and accused each other of raking up communal passions and dividing voters on religion basis.

Launching a scathing attack on the congess party BJP candidate Nirmal Singh termed the Congress as a rudderless ship having no course to guide the destiny of the nation. He said that Congress is a party with no agenda, no policies for the welfare of the people of the country and are trying to mislead the people by calling BJP a communal party.

Addressing a series of meeting in Pouni, Bharakh area, Dr. Nirmal Singh said that Congress leaders are once again trying to whip up the communal passions to garner vote this time in league with its one time arch rival and now coalition partner National Conference. “People of Jammu region should not forget that it was Congress and National Conference which benefited by raising the communal passions in the name of Bill No. 9 and got a clean sweep in their respective constituencies,” he said adding that Congress party is not interested in the welfare of the common masses but is supporting only the capitalists and anti-nationals.

Dr. Nirmal Singh said that BJP does not have to get a certificate from Congress for its secular credentials as it has proven it to the public by its action. He said that Congress in the state has ensured all the bills and legislation aimed at full integration of the state with rest of India and those benefiting nationalist people.

He said that Congress has not allowed delimitation Bill, legislation for grant of citizenship rights to refugees, reservation for ex-servicemen, while it took no time to rescind the allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Board, just to please the separatisat and communal elements.

Addressing a public meeting in Katra Ch Lal Singh appealed to the voters in the area to give him another chance to serve them in a better way.He said no one in the state ever though about porters working in Vasihno devi shrine till he extended them benefits. He challenged BJP leaders to clarify their stand why at all they ailed to listen and solve issues of people of Reasi facing neglect despite electing a BJP legislator
