KVK Kathua launches training on Nutri-Mix Formula

JAMMU, Feb 17: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kathua, under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST-J), today inaugurated a three-day training programme focused on the preparation of Nutri-Mix formula for lactating and pregnant women. The event, aimed at empowering Self-Help Group (SHG) members with nutritional knowledge, was launched under the leadership of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.N. Tripathi and guidance from Dr. Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu.
Sponsored by the Mission Directorate, Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), the training aims to promote better nutritional practices and enhance livelihood security among women in rural areas.
The session, chaired by Dr. Vishal Mahajan, Head, KVK Kathua, emphasized the vital role of balanced nutrition for the health of lactating and pregnant women and their children. He highlighted the importance of training SHG members with practical knowledge that could be passed on to the broader community to tackle nutritional and livelihood challenges.
The training featured a detailed technical session, introduced by Dr. Anamika Jamwal, Chief Scientist (Plant Protection), KVK Kathua. Dr. Sabahat and Dr. Saveela, Assistant Professors (Home Sciences) from Government Degree College, Kathua, served as the primary resource persons.
The training involved hands-on demonstrations and interactive sessions on the Nutri-Mix formula, engaging participants from various community blocks of Kathua District. The programme aims to empower SHG members to transfer the acquired knowledge to broader groups, promoting both health improvements and economic empowerment.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Berjesh Ajrawat, Chief Scientist at KVK Kathua. The programme's success was attributed to the collective efforts of Amit Kumar, Sushant Sharma, Vijay Kumar, Raj Kumar, and Rishav Sharma, who contributed significantly to its organization.
