JAMMU, Feb 17: Sat Sharma (President BJP Jammu Kashmir UT) along with Senior leaders and team BJP OBC Morcha paid floral tribute to Bharat Ratan Sh Karpuri Thakur ji. While speaking on the occasion Sat Sharma said Shri Karpuri Thakur was a freedom fighter, a visionary statesman and a champion of the cause of farmers, women and disadvantaged sections of society. People call him. Jannayak for his work for the cause of common people. His life is a testament to the relentless pursuit of deepening democracy, embodying the principles of liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution of india. Karpoori Thakur, born in 1924 at Pitaunjhia (now Karpoori Gram) in the Darbhanga district of Bihar, was a freedom fighter and former CM of Bihar. He was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2024. He was popularly called 'Jannayak' for his work for the cause of people served as a minister and as Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, before serving two terms as CM of Bihar from 1970 to 1971 and 1977 to 1979.
