GDC Vijaypur organized rally on 'Drug Abuse

JAMMU, Feb 18: Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee of Government Degree College Vijaypur organized a Rally on "Drug Abuse & Its impact on Society" to create awareness among the college students and local people about the impact of drugs on mental, emotional and social health.
The program was organized under the able guidance of esteemed Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma. She briefed the students that the aim of organizing such events is to aware public about the consequences of illicit drug uses that are widespread, and are causing permanent physical and emotional damage to users which negatively impact their families, coworkers, and many others with whom they have contact.
The event started with the welcome address by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (Nodal Officer Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan Committee). He exhorted that drug abuse is a pervasive problem in modern society, with millions of people around the world struggling with addiction and its consequences. He further added that the impact of drug abuse is far-reaching and can affect individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. More than 60 students participated in the rally which started from the college and moved towards the surrounding villages.
The students raised slogans and interacted with the local people while guiding them towards the impact of increasing drug abuse and its impact on the society. The event was coordinated by Dr. Anoop Kumar Bhagat (Nodal Officer Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan Committee) and co-coordinated by Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science), Prof Mamta Gupta (HOD Commerce), Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Science), Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), and Dr. Naseem Chowdhary (HOD English). The organizing committee comprised of Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Prof. Madhu Bala, Prof. Anjana Raina and Prof. Manisha Rani (Members of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Committee).
