CHANDIGARH, Feb 19: The Young Communicators Club (YCC) of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, under the aegis of Public Relations Council of India, Chandigarh Chapter, and in collaboration with Sarvani, a Panchkula-based NGO, organised 'Saanjh and Sangam'- a 3-day programme as part of its ongoing social outreach initiatives. The programme's overarching goal was to restore the essence of childhood for underprivileged children, ensuring their holistic development by providing them access to the simple joys of play and education that every child deserves. The initiative offered a wide range of activities for the children and learners at Sarvani, creating an environment conducive to learning, creativity, and personal growth. The first day of the programme introduced the children to the joys of storytelling, alongside engaging art and craft activities. These sessions aimed not only to stimulate creativity but also to strengthen communication skills and encourage self-expression among the children. On the second day, a combination of music, dance, and mindfulness sessions was conducted, fostering emotional well-being and promoting physical and mental wellness through the healing power of art and movement. On the final day, the event culminated with interactive games, followed by a feedback session wherein the children shared their experiences, highlighting the value they found in these activities.
Officiating Principal Ms. Suman Mahajan expressed appreciation for the incredible efforts of the YCC volunteers aimed at giving back to the society. She emphasised the importance of proactive student participation in community service, highlighting its pivotal role in shaping a better society and contributing to national development. Ms. Mahajan asserted that through such endeavours, students not only gain a deeper understanding of social issues and contribute actively to the betterment of their communities, but also gain exposure to new ideas, experiences, and opportunities, which can have a lasting impact on their personal development and future prospects.
