| Several political leaders extend Baisakhi greetings | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 12 – Various political leaders have extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi. The Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand while extending greetings to the people on the occasion said the festival of Baisakhi has a special importance for people at large and particularly for those engaged in the profession of agriculture and farming. The day marks the beginning of New Year and start of the harvest season. The farmers gather the fruits of their hard labour and rejoice upon the prosperous future, he added. The Deputy Chief Minister said Baisakhi has special significance for our Sikh brethren, who also celebrate it as the day of the birth of Khalsa Panth. Tara Chand called upon the people to celebrate this festival in harmony with traditional fervor and gaiety. PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayed and President Mehbooba Mufti have greeted people on the occasion of Baisakhi today. In their messages they have expressed hope that this festival will bring peace, happiness and prosperity to the people and the Nation. Mufti and Mehbooba have said that Baisakhi holds special significance for the Sikhs as this day also marks the birth anniversary of the “Khalsa Panth” or the Sikh order. The Panth was established in 1699 by the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh on Baisakhi day. Mufti and Mehbooba conveyed their felicitations and best wishes to the Sikhs living in India and abroad. They hoped that this festival would usher in all-round prosperity, peace, abundance and happiness for everyone. Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party has extended Baishakhi greeting which marks the beginning of New Year. Prof. Bhim Singh and Harsh Dev Singh extended Baishakhi greeting to the people from Kishtwar where they are camping in connection with Lok Sabha election campaigning.
