Modi Govt playing with sentiments of people of J&K: Karra
2/19/2025 9:53:38 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 19: Accusing Modi government is playing with the sentiments of people of Jammu & Kashmir over the most popular demand of restoration of statehood,JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra has said it is very serious issue that people are loosing faith in the institution of Prime Minister & home minister, due to non fulfillment of public commitment.
Addressing a workers convention at Kishtwar today, alongwith a team of senior leaders Shri Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla,Ch Lal Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Naresh Gupta, DCC President Asif Naqeeb, Pyare Lal Shan, Sheikh Irshad, Sheikh Zaffrullah, Firdous Mingnoo,Vijay Sharma, Sanjerv Panda ors JKPCC President said that the office of Prime Minister and Home Minister is an institution & any any word spoken by them is considered an honest commitment and honor attached to the instituion. But the way people's faith is being betrayed is a breach of trust, having far reaching consequences for times to come.
Karra said Elections in J&K we're also held on the directions of supreme Court only otherwise centre was not sincere to hold elections & restore democracy despite lapse of more than five years. Reminding further, he said there was another direction for restoration of state as soon as possible but centre is bot obeying that, for which Congress is fighting on every occasion in all possible manner and shall take it to logical conclusiion, he added.
We fought this election in coalition & after results Congress was invited to join cabinet but we decided to stay back, on the principled stand of statehood but our leadership took a right decision, as we knew that government will be incomplete without powers of statehood and today we feel we stand vindicated, as the elected government is not being allowed to take small decisions in public interest.
Even after taking over by elected government, the administration issued such instructions in response to Congress request for holding a worker's convention that we can laugh at such attitude of LG adm & their claims of normalcy. These actions justify Congress charge of authoritarinism & dancing to the tunes of BJP.
He asserted that Statehood is our right and we are not going to beg for restoration of our right, dignity, identity & status but shall fight for it, while seeking people's suffort, who responded enthusiastically, to take to streets if required.
Congress achieved freedom after lot many sufferings and sacrifices under great stalwarts like Mahatma Gandhi,Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad & lot many others. Those who supported the British rulers to crush the movement of Indian National Congress, can't dictate or teach lessons of patriotism or democracy to congress and nation.
Justifying the demand of people of Kishtwar and adjoining districts of chenab region regarding free or subsidised power tarrif and uninterrupted power, Karra said government should consider the demand for a suitable mechanism in this regard.
On Organisational front, he asked for encouraging and developing second line leadership. To promote second line leadership, their Credibility amongst people & utility in the party & win ability for for elections shall sole criteria,he added. Everyone is equal in the party. I am one amongst you b& all workers shoud feel so and work with comradery spirit prominent others including Sanjeev Panda, Vijay Sharma, Ricky Dalotra Rangil Singh Jatin Vasist, Naved Kichloo.
On this occasion, pcc President felicitated the veteran congress leader of Haji Hassan Mit who served the party for long time as Block President Kishtwar.
