| Sonia could become PM: Farooq Abdullah | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, April 12: NC chief Farooq Abdullah on Sunday claimed that the UPA can only come to power if its various "factions" support the Congress after the polls and said that Sonia Gandhi could become the Prime Minister. "UPA is divided in factions. Lalu Prasad and Ramvilas Paswan are fighting the elections separately," Abdullah, whose NC is part of the UPA, told reporters here.
Abdullah claimed the UPA will emerge as a strong contender to form the next government provided "factions" of the alliance support Congress after elections.
"If they support Congress after elections, UPA will emerge a strong contender for formation of the next government," he said.
Replying to a question, he said UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi has herself nominated Manmohan Singh as the prime ministerial candidate.
However, he added that "Sonia Gandhi herself could also become Prime Minister".
