| Gen. Zorawar Singh’s birth anniversary celebrated | | | Early Times Reporter
Jammu, Apr 13: The Jammu Mela in consonant with Baisakhi harvest festival and birth anniversary of general, Wazir Zorawar Singh was celebrated by Dogra Sadar Sabha Bhawan under the chairmanship of Prem Sagar Gupta general secretary duly attended by large number of Sabha activists here today. Besides Dogra light and sound programme, speakers highlighted the importance of the day with regard to Dogra Civilization, culture and historical ethos of their intrepid Heroes who proffered supreme sacrifices in the cause of the country and Nation since times immemorial. Special emphasis was laid on the role of Maharaja Gulab Singh, Maharaja Ranbir Singh and Maharaja Hari Singh for their munificent measures for the uplift of the poor down trodden public of this frontier region, by rising above caste, creed or regional biases. Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, president of the Sabha who is the station also paid rich tributes to their heroes and congratulated the public on this historical occasion. Prem Sagar Gupta while summoning up the function impressed upon the gathering to maintain communal harmony and dedicate their valuable services and co-operation to safe guard and perpetuate their age old traditions of service to the public and as well to keep their integrity intact. Prof N.K. Dogra, Nisar Massiah, Vice Presidents, S. Kulbir Singh, Ghambir Dev Singh Charak, Shammi Slathia, B.S. Manhas, Vinod Pandita and others also participated in the function.
