| Chaman seeks votes for BJP in national interest | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 13: Strongly pleading for strengthening the forces of nationalism to meet the challenges of religious secessionism and cross border terror, the leader of the BJP Legislators party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, has castigated the Congress alleging that to garner votes they were trying to exploit communal and sectarian problems. He referred to the vitriolic utterances of the Congress men including the PCC chief and Union minister Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz, at a Gujjar Conference organized by some controversial characters. He said in Utter Pradesh draconian laws like National security act were slapped against Varun Gandhi for his alleged certain provoating utterances but the question arises that why no such action was along taken against Congressmen who not only misusing the official resources but also flouting the Model code of Conduct with impunity. Addressing election meetings at Bari Brahmana and other places in Jammu areas, Gupta recalled that the dynastic Congress had led India to painful partition in 1947 and later on granted discriminatory status of Jammu and Kashmir under Articles -370 to appease the communalism of the National Conference leaders. The BJP leader alleged that discrimination against Jammu by the ruling leaders had been because of their communal and sectarian mindset and when ever there was alliance of the Congress-National Conference the problems in this state were compounded, whether it was their accord of 1975 or that of 1986. He said that the manner in which the renewed alliance of the Congress National Conference had urged their fresh moves, is a matter of serious concern for the Nationalists, especially those of Jammuites. The Election Commissioner must have a deep probing that how there has been a drastic cut into the number of electorates of Jammu region and under what “magic” the number of voters of the valley have increased by over four lakhs to make these two lakhs more than those of Jammu, he reiterated.
