BLSKS concludes 3 days special awareness campaign

JAMMU, Feb 24: To Aware the Masses regarding 'Prevention of Aids' & to promote the Traditional Culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan in coordination with Aids control Society ,Health and Medical Education of Jammu and Kashmir Government of Jammu and Kashmir, concluded 3 days special Aids Awareness campaign through Folk media & presented with three other programs through Nukkad Natak / Short Play " HIV VISHANU HAI " at Village Tawa , Govt. High School , Seri Pandita & Village Chak Bhalwal, Jammu. The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Kala Khan , Naib Sarpanch , Pyt Upper Kot Bhalwal . The Guest of Honour were Mr. Brinder Singh , Headmaster ,Govt. High School , Seri Pandita , Mtr. Nusrat Bano, 2nd Incharge, Govt. High School , Seri , Anu Kumari , Panch Ward no 5 Pyt Halqa Seripandita were present on the occasion. The Chief Guest speaking on the occasion said HIV infection is entirely preventable through awareness raising. It is for this reason that the National AIDS Control Programme lays maximum emphasis on the widespread reach of information, education and communication on HIV/AIDS prevention. Changing knowledge, attitudes and behaviour as a prevention strategy of HIV/AIDS thus is a key thrust area of the National AIDS Control Programme. In addition to the awareness programmes. colorful cultural programs comprising of skits / dances / songs etc. The items like Musical Nukkad Natak / Play " HIV VISHANU HAI " and songs were specially designed like " Laga Gran Sade Setu Da Mela", Jano Jano Aids Rog Jano, Maha Mari Mado Ayi Corona Jad Cha Ase Mita Deni, Jan Jan Mara Aids Rog Jaan, HIV Vishanu Hai, Savdhan Savdhan Ae Manav Jati Savdhan and short play written by Dr.M.L.Dogra (Chairman BLSKS) were presented. The music was assisted by by M C Kotwal , Music Director of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan , Including Entrainment program to promote the Traditional cultural of Jammu & Kashmir. The said programs was also recorded & uploaded online on Social Media for benefit of the peoples.
Earlier welcoming the dignitaries before concluding of the campaign Dr.M.L.Dogra , Chairman , BLSKS explained about the Awareness raising brings behaviour change. Through this route the programme promotes prevention, and aims to reach out to 80 percent of the high risk groups and 95 percent of the young people. In fact, the awareness campaign of NACP has received a big boost with the formation of National Council on AIDS that has mainstreamed HIV prevention activities in various government institutions and programmes. The programme focuses on saturating an estimated four million high risk groups (commercial sex workers, injecting drug users, men-who-have-sex-with-men), twelve million highly vulnerable populations - migrants and truckers, and a large number of young women and men in the general community, who constitute almost 40 percent of the country's population, with information on various aspects of vulnerability to HIV infection. The helpline caters to all the population of India and is reachable from any mobile/landline number through a short code toll-free number 1097. If HIV is controlled, the risk of transmission is close to zero.
The singers, musician and actors who performed were K K Joshi (Troupe Incharge), Mahesh Chander Kotwal, Zulekha bano , Bindia Okheda, Chahat Chadha, Kuldeep Raj , Sant Dass and students ,teachers, youths & general public were presented. Deepak Kumar, Troupe Coordinator presented vote of thanks for successful conduct of the program.
