| The day when Rajouri was liberated | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Apr 13: To pay homage to the martyrs of the soil who laid their lives during attack by Pakistan raiders on April, 13, 1948, an impressive function was organized jointly by the ACE of spades Division and district administration today at Gujjar Chowk war memorial. It marked the 61st anniversary of the historic liberation of Rajouri. The function started with laying wreath at War memorial by Commander 25 Arty Brig. DIG BSF, DIG (Police) Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri and prominent citizens. The day is celebrated in memory of brave sons of the soil who laid their lives. Officiating Deputy GOC Brigd. V. Dadhwal who was the chief guest on the occasion laid wreath at the memorial. While addressing Brigd. Dadhwal recalled the sacrifices of the brave soldiers and paid rich tribute to the civil and military martyrs of 1948. He termed the cooperation of local population equally significant for the liberation of Rajouri. He appealed the people of the areas to cooperate with security forces in maintaining peace and harmony in the area. He also lauded and recalled the sacrifice of one Khatoon Mala-Bi. Deputy Commissioner, Jaipaul Singh while appreciating the bravery exhibited by the soldiers paid rich homage to the martyrs adding that sacrifices of these days would be remembered in annals of history. Among others who attended the function included Station Commander Brigd Sanjev Kanal, DIG, BSF, AM Bhatnagar, SSP S.A Watali civil and Army officers and Kuldeep Raj Gupta.
