| Seeking justice, Home Guards knock CM’s doors | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, April 13 : All Jammu and Kashmir Home Guard Association today staged protest in front of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s official residence, seeking their regularization. The protesting Home Guards were demanding their regularization and enhancement to wages. The protest remained on Dharna for nearly one hour this afternoon and later it was forcibly dispersed by the police. Earlier, addressing gathering of the Home Guards president Kamla said that they have submitted number of memorandums inspite of assurances nothing has been given to them. Kamal told that Home Guards have been giving duties equivalent to the regular police force but their duties and hard work is not regarded. She said that they leading a life under the threat of starvation, since Rs 400 has been given as wage to each guard as monthly salaries. One of the protesting guards Harminder Singh said that “I have spent half of my life serving Home Guards” adding, “I have spent many night in dreaming after the assurances that salaries will be increased and guards would be regularized”.
“I have three children”, adding, “I am unable to give them higher education to them since my monthly wage is Rs 400”, disappointed Singh said. Kader Hussain said that they have staged protest to press the state government, which has assured us our rights. Hussain, belongs to a poor family, “I was hopeful after is enrolled in the Home Guards but all my dreams turned unsuccessful and “I am unable to feed my small family”. While Ravinder was against those who were recently raising slogans like ‘employees, employees Bhai-Bhai’ adding said all the permanent employees have no concern about our polite but they are concerned about the implementation of sixth pay commission. He said that “We were expecting their support in our struggle for getting our just full demands fulfilled”. Ravinder said that “We are not demanding at-least reasonable salaries and regularization so that we can feed our families”.
