KVK Samba organise monthly officers workshop

JAMMU, Feb 28: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Samba under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised officers monthly workshop here today at KVK Hq Samba which was enthusatically attended by a number of extension officers from the Department of Agriculture, Samba of J&K. The workshop was organised under the dynamic stewardship of Vice Chancellor, Prof. B.N. Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof. Amrish Vaid of SKUAST-Jammu.
Prof. Sanjay Khajuria Chief Scientist and Head KVK Samba coordinated the workshop and he warmly welcomed all the participants and discussed various field related issues and stressed on the timely and efficient management of different field problems of farmers. He stressed on the close linkage between the field officers and the farmers. He also discussed on natural farming and stressed on the adoption of cluster approach for the economic development of rural areas. He also spoke on the SHGs/FPOs formation and food processing. He highlighted the formulation and use of biopesticides, biofuncides and biofertilizers in the organic crops. He added that natural farming can reduce the cost of cultivation and can play a significant role in enhancing the income and employment among the farmers.
Dr. Aakash Sharma, Professor Fruit Science SKUAST Jammu discussed on the commercial cultivation of fruits and suggested the scientific cultivation of different fruits in the District Samba. . He also discussed in detail on the organic treatment of various insects-pests in various crops. Dr. Bhav Kumar Sinha, Professor, Plant Physiology SKUAST Jammu spoke on the advance technologies in agricultural/horticultural crops.
