Jammu, Mar 1: The Department of Physics GDC Paloura celebrated National Science Day, commemorating Dr. CV Raman’s discovery of the Raman effect, which earned him the Noble Prize in Physics (1930). The event themed “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat”. It emphasizes the role of young minds in driving India’s Scientific & Technological progress,aligning with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2027.
The programme began with introductory speech by Prof. Rakesh Kumar (HOD Physics) followed by series of events viz: Documentary Screening, Symposium,Quiz and Poster making competitions. In symposium competition Dakesh Sharma, Amit Bhau and Sonia Devi students of B.Sc. 6th semester got Ist, 2nd & 3rd position judged by Prof. Joginder Kumar (HOD Computer Sciences), Dr. Sikander Khan (HOD Veterinary Sciences) and Mr. Rahul Raina (Department of Physics), whereas in Poster making competition Aryan Manhas & Vijay Kumar of 6th semester got Ist position, Sudha Sharma of 6th semester got 2nd position and Ankit Raul of 6th semester got 3rd position judged by Prof. Joginder Kumar (HOD Computer Sciences), Dr.Sikander Khan (HOD Veterinary Sciences) and Mrs. Sukriti Sharma (Department of Physics).
The proceeding of the Science Quiz competition were conducted by Dr. Kanav Gupta. A total of five teams,each having four participants .Team B consisting of Mohit Singh, Rajat Kumar, Rohit Singh and Rajan Minjan of B.Sc. 4th semester was declared winner of the competition judged by Dr. Skinder Khan (HOD Veterinary Sciences), Mr. Rahul Raina (Department of Physics) and Ms. Sukriti Sharma (Department of Physics).
The programme was anchored by Sonia Devi of B.Sc. 6th semester and Manish Kumar of B.Sc. 4th semester. The whole programme was conducted under the guidance and patronage of Principal of the college Dr. Kulvinder Kour. The whole event was organised by HOD Physics Prof.Rakesh Kumar,Dr. Kanav Gupta, Mr. Rahul Raina and Mrs. Sukriti Sharma, other faculty members who grace the occasion are Prof. Geetanjali Multani (HOD English), Prof. Nasir Ahmed (HOD Urdu), Mr. Javed Ahmed (Department of Botany) and Dr. Bhushan Kumar (Department of Education).
