DC Budgam reviews arrangements for holy month of Ramadan

BUDGAM, Mar 3: In order to ensure a smooth and hassle-free month of Ramadan, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo today convened a meeting with district officers here in the Conference Hall DC Office Complex.
During the meeting, threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements including availability of safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, first aid, sanitation, garbage collection, deployment of fire tenders, traffic management and security etc.
Necessary directions were issued to the heads of various departments to ensure foolproof arrangements during the month of Ramadan.
To ensure uninterrupted power supply during Ramadan, the DC instructed the Executive Engineer of the Power Development Department (PDD) to sensitize their field staff and ensure hassle-free electricity supply to consumers, especially during critical times such as Sehri and Iftar.
The Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Budgam and Chadoora were tasked with ensuring a regular supply of drinking water.
Emphasising the importance of consumer protection, the DC directed the formation of special market checking squads which includes revenue, police and food safety officers to monitor quality check and prevent profiteering, hoarding, and overcharging by shopkeepers during the month.
ARTO was directed to ensure sufficient availability of vehicles during the month, while AD food and Animal husbandry department were directed for ensuring adequate quantity of food grains, poultry and other essential commodities during the month.
To uphold cleanliness in the town and panchayats, the DC directed the ACP and EOs to take proactive measures of sanitation drive and urged public cooperation in maintaining hygiene.
The CMO was directed to ensure health teams along with ambulance availability 24x7 during the whole month in all health and medical institutions to provide medical assistance.
