Railway police Jammu books notorious drug peddler under PITNDPS

JAMMU, Mar 5: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Railway Police Jammu has booked a notorious drug peddler, Vishal Kumar, under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act.
Vishal Kumar, son of Mangat Ram, originally from Rajasthan and presently residing in Ward No. 80, Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, Bahu Fort, Jammu, has been involved in multiple drug-related offenses. Four FIRs have been registered against him in various police stations across Jammu district, Gurdaspur (Punjab), and GRP Jammu. He is known to have a widespread drug network spanning Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu, actively engaging in the sale of banned substances.
Following the issuance of an arrest warrant under the PITNDPS Act by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the accused was apprehended by GRP Jammu and lodged in District Jail Rajouri.
GRP Jammu has been intensifying its efforts to dismantle drug networks operating within railway stations and surrounding areas. Over the past year, the police have registered 15 FIRs under the NDPS Act, leading to the arrest of 13 accused. Additionally, 12 absconders have been apprehended under Section 512 CrPC, and one warrant under PITNDPS has been successfully executed.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to curbing drug trafficking and ensuring strict action against those involved in the illegal drug trade.
