Tony calls for immediate filling of 32000 vacant posts
3/5/2025 10:30:54 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 5: Senior Congress leader and DDC member Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony has called upon the government to expedite the recruitment process for the 32,000 vacant positions across 37 government departments. Highlighting the pressing issue of unemployment in the region, he emphasized the urgency of addressing the "hunger-driven unemployment" that has been exacerbated by these vacancies.
Reacting over the Assembly reports indicate that the Health and Medical Education Department alone accounts for 7,851 of these vacancies, underscoring a critical gap in essential public services, He expressed deep concern over the prolonged inaction, stating that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir have become victims of hollow policies that fail to address their employment needs.
"The staggering number of unfilled positions is not just a statistic; it represents thousands of young aspirations put on hold. The administration must act promptly to convert these vacancies into opportunities for our youth, thereby mitigating the growing unemployment crisis," Tony asserted.
In addition to the unfilled vacancies, Tony drew attention to the plight of daily wagers who have been protesting on the streets, demanding regularization of their services. He criticized the previous BJP government's lack of responsiveness to their legitimate demands and urged immediate policy interventions to provide these workers with job security and dignity.
"Our daily wagers are the backbone of various public services. Their continuous struggle for regularization reflects poorly on the administration's commitment to workers' rights. It's high time the government focuses on their grievances and implements fair regularization policies," Tony added.
At last, the senior Congress leader appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to expedite the recruitment process for the 32,000 vacant government positions and prioritize regularization of daily wagers, emphasizing that such measures are crucial for addressing the pressing unemployment crisis in Jammu and Kashmir.
