Cleanliness drive held at GCW Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: To raise awareness on Swachhta among the students, the Swachhata Action Plan (SAP) Club, Department of Computer Application and NSS Unit of Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India organized a cleanliness drive in the college campus here today. The programme was organized under the able guidance and support of Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, Principal of the College, with the aim to inspire collective commitment towards cleanliness and environmental responsibility.
Earlier, the programme began with an enlightening speech by Prof. Rachna Bharti, Convener of SAP Club. Prof. Bharti emphasised on collective responsibility for improving the overall quality of life and preserving the environment. She highlighted the importance of such initiatives in making the campus more pleasant and beautiful. Prof. Sunil Magotra, Co-convener of SAP Club, effectively instructed the students.
Principal-in-charge Dr. Indu Khajuria congratulated the team for their efforts and emphasized that cleanliness is not just a one-time activity but a habit that we all should adopt in our daily lives.
The cleanliness drive saw the enthusiastic participation of around 107 students, along with committee members and faculty from the Computer Department, including Dr. Rudrika Kalsotra, Ms. Akshi, and Mr. Parshotam Ji. The drive covered key areas of the campus, starting from the administrative block, moving through the Science block, new Geography block, Ground, and concluding near the Canteen area.
For increased awareness, instructional posters were strategically placed at various locations around the college, accompanied by a feedback and suggestion link accessible via a barcode on the posters. Prof. Manju Bala played a crucial role in coordinating the students and ensuring the proper placement of these posters and effectively spreading the message.
Dr. Mool Raj, Head Department of Urdu , commended the team for their dedication to the cleanliness drive on campus. He emphasized that maintaining a clean environment is essential for fostering a healthy and conducive learning atmosphere, and encouraged everyone to actively participate in such initiatives.
Dr. Om Parkash and Prof. Yash Kumar were instrumental in organizing the drive, with special support provided by N.S.S Program Officers Dr. Ajay Kumar and Prof. Shama Rani, along with N.S.S volunteers. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Pooja Bharti, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters.
