Jammu police intensify patrols to tackle drug activity in rural areas

JAMMU, Mar 7: In a determined move to counter rising drug-related offenses, Jammu police have intensified patrols in r public parks and playgrounds in Rural zone areas now identified as potential hubs for drug peddling and consumption. The area includes Jhajjar Kotli, Kanachak, Sidhra, Jourian, Akhnoor, Kanachak.
Officials confirmed that the enhanced patrol operations are part of a broader strategy aimed at safeguarding community spaces. "We urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately," said a senior police officer, emphasizing the critical role of community cooperation in maintaining public safety.
In addition to increased patrolling, discussions are underway with the civil administration regarding the installation of CCTV cameras and the improvement of lighting across these areas. Authorities believe that these measures will further deter criminal activity during low-light hours. The police have also recommended the appointment of dedicated caretakers for the parks to ensure ongoing surveillance and maintenance. These initiatives underscore Jammu police's commitment to creating safer public environments and curbing drug-related crimes, ensuring that parks and playgrounds remain secure spaces for the community.
