Rattan Lal Gupta hails CM Omar Abdullah's visionary and people-friendly budget

JAMMU, Mar 7: Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), today praised the Rs 1.12 lakh-crore budget presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, describing it as a visionary and historical financial plan that aligns with the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "This budget is a testament to our government's commitment to fulfilling the promises outlined in our party's manifesto," said Gupta. "It comprehensively addresses the needs of various segments of society, including farmers, industrialists, women, youth, traders, and the common man."
In a press release issued here today, the senior NC leader said that the budget allocates ?815 crore to promote a two-crop pattern, expand horticulture, enhance wool processing, and develop the leather tanning industry, initiatives expected to generate approximately 2.88 lakh jobs, significantly boosting the agricultural sector. Additionally, ?390.20 crore is dedicated to enhancing tourism infrastructure, including increasing home stays, promoting water sports, developing Sonmarg as a winter sports destination, constructing a new water park in Sidhra, and positioning Basholi as an adventure tourism hub.
The Provincial President also welcomed the decision of Omar Govt for providing 200 units of free electricity and increase 10 Kg ration per person per month from 5 Kg for AAY families in Jammu and Kashmir, aiming to reducing the financial burden on AAY families and ensuring access to essential services enhancement of financial assistance from Rs 50000 to Rs 75000 for the marriage of daughter of a poor family.
He also welcomed the move of Omar Govt to empower women by announcing free travel for women on government-operated public transport, including e-buses, starting April 1, 2025, aiming to promote women's mobility and empowerment across the region. Infrastructure development is also a priority, with plans to construct 500 new Panchayat Ghars to strengthen local governance and infrastructure, ensuring that grassroots democratic institutions are well-supported. Furthermore, a new film policy has been introduced to establish Jammu and Kashmir as a prime destination for film production and eco-tourism, potentially creating new employment opportunities and boosting the local economy, he added. Rattan Lal Gupta emphasized that these initiatives reflect the Omar government's dedication to equitable development and the empowerment of all citizens. He reiterated the JKNC's commitment to restoring the region's dignity and constitutional rights, ensuring a prosperous and secure future for its people. Free stamp duty for the gift deed of blood relations and resolving the burning issue of unemployment by initiating the employment process by giving jobs to youth.
