JAMMU, Mar 8: Government College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, celebrated International Women's Day with great enthusiasm under the patronage of Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol.
The event featured a documentary screening titled Women Empowerment: Equality, Progress, Inclusion, highlighting the achievements and challenges women face across various sectors. The documentary showcased inspiring stories of resilience, breaking barriers, and significant contributions made by women in different fields.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Abrol emphasized the role of education and empowerment in achieving gender equality. "Today, we not only celebrate the achievements of women but also recognize the need for continued efforts towards gender equality. Creating an environment where women can thrive is our collective responsibility, and this documentary serves as a powerful reminder of their strength and potential," she said.
The event saw participation from faculty, students, and guests from diverse backgrounds. An interactive discussion followed the screening, allowing participants to share their perspectives on women's roles in society and ways to foster inclusivity and equality.
Organized by Prof. Nisha Bhagat, Convener of the Women's Cell, with Prof. Mosmi Raina as the event in-charge, the celebration aimed to inspire young minds to appreciate gender equality and recognize the vital role of women in shaping a progressive future. The event concluded with a collective call for unity in the pursuit of women's empowerment globally.
