KISHTWAR, Mar 8: On the directions of senior formations, J&K Police District Kishtwar organized an awareness program on the implementation of new criminal laws at Furqan Academy School Kishtwar to educate students about the newly enacted legal provisions and key aspects of women's safety on the occasion of Women's Day. The event was led by Dy. SP Hqrs Kishtwar, Dr. Ishan Gupta, assisted by SHO PS Kishtwar Insp. Firdous Ahmed, and IC Women Cell PSI Sakshi Sharma. They addressed the gathering and highlighted the salient features of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023. During the session, detailed discussions were held on E-FIR, Zero FIR, and various legal provisions related to women's safety, self-protection laws, and fast-track procedures for crimes against women. The officers emphasized the importance of timely reporting of crimes and the enhanced legal framework ensuring swift justice for victims.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and members of civil society from nearby areas. Attendees actively engaged in discussions, raised pertinent queries regarding the new laws, and gained valuable insights into the legal mechanisms available to protect women's rights and safety.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the school administration, lauding the efforts of J&K Police District Kishtwar for promoting legal awareness and community engagement through such informative initiatives
