UDHAMPUR, Mar 8: District Police Udhampur, apprehended a man in possession of 55 bottles of illicit liquor near Devika.
A police team from PS Udhampur, while patrolling and conducting checks in Gole Market, Udhampur, noticed a person acting suspiciously. Upon seeing the police team, he attempted to hide, which further raised suspicion. Acting promptly, the police apprehended him.
The individual, identified as Suram Chand, son of Majro Ram, resident of Danal, Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur, and was arrested on the spot.
Upon frisking, the police recovered 55 bottles of JK Desi Whisky from his possession, including:
5 bottles (250ml each)
50 bottles (180ml each)
Upon questioning, the accused admitted that he intended to sell the liquor illegally.
In this regard,a case under FIR No. 70/2025 U/S 48(a) of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
Further investigation is underway. |
